Pitchers and catchers begin reporting to Arizona and Florida today. In Scottsdale, where Matt Morris and the Giants will report, I decided to welcome them with a high of 76 degrees, and I’ll throw in a few comfortable wind gusts. In Lakeland, Fla., where Jim Leyland’s Tigers will report to their time-honored spring home of Joker Marchant Stadium, it will be 80 and sunny.

By the way, this is my favorite non-baseball site. I thought it was very interesting that the Word of the Day for Feb. 15 — the day pitchers and catchers report — is "League." Even though they were thinking in terms of the word as a measurement, I think we know what they really mean.
